Montgomery County well owners under water boil advisory

Private well owners in Montgomery County have been advised to drink boiled or bottled water until it’s been determined their wells aren’t contaminated by Hurricane Irene floodwaters.

The alert was sent yesterday, cautioning owners that the floods may have brought in bacteria. For those who want to see for themselves, the health department is offering free test kits.

The Inquirer reports the notice was targeted at those with wells in low-lying areas or next to flooded waterways, but that the county isn’t certain how man wells could have been affected.
