Monopoly players asked to vote out old gamepiece, pick new one

Monopoly’s game pieces are probably just as recognizable as the game itself.

But one of them is about to get the boot (no pun intended).Fans are being asked to vote on whether the car, thimble, boot, Scottie dog, battleship, hat, iron or wheelbarrow should be retired. And in its place will either be a robot, ring, cat, helicopter or guitar.

The race is on for generations of Go-passers, bankers and Boardwalk buyers to save their favorite pieces and vote in a player. The hat and wheelbarrow are on the chopping block right now, and the Scottie dog and car have the most votes for safe-keeping.

Time to put your Monopoly money where your mouth is.
