Any fires that spark in Monmouth County today could quickly get out of control, forecasters warn.

The National Weather Service has issued a “Red Flag Warning” for northern and central New Jersey, including Monmouth County, due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels.

The warning continues until 7 p.m. today.

There danger is not as severe in Ocean and Atlantic counties, although conditions are producing an “enhanced risk” of fire spread.
