Menendez announced as Camden County College commencement speaker

Camden County College has chosen someone local to speak at the 2012 commencement ceremony.

U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., will deliver the keynote address May 19.

Why Menendez? According to the announcement from the school, many CCC students can identify with the senator, who is a public school graduate and first generation college graduate.

He’s also got a lengthy political career to talk about. He’s been in the Senate since 2006, was a member of the U.S. House, the New Jersey Senate and the New Jersey Assembly, and also served as mayor of Union City. He even made it to the Union City Board of Education as a 20-year-old.
