Medford mayor accused of hiring male escort, has no plans to resign

Medford Mayor Chris Myers plans to have a “normal Medford Council meeting on policy” Nov. 7.

We’re not sure what normal looks like for a guy recently accused of paying a male escort, but a council policy meeting probably isn’t in the cards.

The Courier-Post reports an anonymous person claiming to be an escort from Rentboy.com says Myers, a Republican married father of two, solicited him for sex. The escort posted (no longer accessible) photos online of what’s allegedly Myer’s open wallet and mayoral ID card — a retaliatory act for supposedly not being given a car and other promised gifts.

Myers’ response? “I can’t comment on something I don’t know.” He says the story is based on rumors. Those rumors are getting mixed reactions from township pols, some of whom are holding a grudge over the development of the mixed-used Medford Crossings.

The good news for Myers is, he has more than a week before that Council meeting — plenty of time for someone else’s scandal to steal his thunder.
