Mayor Nutter to make cameo in Pennsylvania Ballet’s Coppélia

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter may be comfortable on stage, but he’s leaping into new territory with an upcoming appearance.

Nutter plans to make a cameo Sunday when the Pennsylvania Ballet performs Coppélia, the comedy about an inventor and his life-like doll.

Nutter is hardly playing against type. He will play the role of the mayor who greets villagers during the first act.

There’s no need to search for a replacement at City Hall during the show’s run. Nutter’s ballet career is slated to be one-day only.
