Mavericks celebrate NBA victory with unenthusiastic rendtion of “We are the Champions”

There are plenty of examples of botched renditions of the National Anthem at sporting events, but this could be a first.

As the Dallas Mavericks celebrated their NBA title with a parade (paid for by team owner Mark Cuban), forward Dirk Nowitzki tried to get the fans pumped by signing “We are the Champions.”

Except the tune came out a little flat. And by flat, we mean almost depressing. Who would have though a celebratory tune could sound so melancholy? Fox 4 caught the video above of Nowitzki singing the song to himself, but he really belted it out during the parade.

And the crowd sang right along. As Cleveland fans probably joined right in to revel in LeBron James and the Heat’s loss to Dallas.
