Mastery students suspected in flashmob attack surrender

Two of the minors suspected in the July 29 attack on a man on Fourth Street surrendered to police today after surveillance video helped police identify the attackers as Mastery Charter School students.

Action News reports a third student is expected to surrender, as well, though their identities are being kept private due to their age.

The video shows the victim walking down Fourth near Walnut when a group of students he walks by attack him, beating him and then chasing him. The attack is one in a series Mayor Michael Nutter addressed yesterday when he announced enhanced enforcement and increased penalties for teens caught committing violent acts.
