As part of a three-day weekend symposium focused on Delaware Samplers and newly emerging scholarship, the Biggs Museum will host a full day of lectures and multimedia presentations on Delaware’s needlework schools and teachers. This event is the culmination of a year-long sampler documentation effort in Delaware, directed by the University of Delaware’s Sampler Archive Project. Pre-registration required. The Dover Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Donald Buxton will launch the second half of its 2013-2014 season on Sunday, March 23, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Rollins Center at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover. The orchestra will perform Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C Minor. Our featured soloist, Phillip Sawyer, will perform Vivaldi’s Concerto in D for Strings and Lute on classical guitar. Rollins Center at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino.

A winner of the 2009 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, she also captured the top prize and the Audience Favorite Prize at the 12th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv.
