Maine House advances proposal to claim whoopie pie

Looks like Pennsylvania is losing this one. Maine’s House today had a preliminary vote to pass legislation that would make the whoopie pie the official state treat. Not the state dessert. That’s reserved for blueberry pie.

Maine and Pennsylvania have been battling it out lately, both claiming to be the originator of the chocolate and cream treat.

 

But the legislation is not enough. We all know nothing is official until it’s made in jumbo size. That’s why a Maine radio station, as the Associated Press reports, is teaming up with Wicked Whoopies to make an enormous whoopie pie.

The local whoopie maker will create a pie weighing 500 pounds. That’s more than Pennsylvania’s record-breaking 250-pound whoopie pie.
