The mass summer exodus has been ongoing since the morning.

There are pockets of heavy traffic on roadways heading away from the coast, including the Garden State Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway.

Expect traffic to continue all day.

Showers and thunderstorms will complicate travel, but with no sun in the fun today, traffic appears to be steady and will likely be lighter later, as many have decided to vacate shore points earlier than usual.
