A mistake that Philadelphia court officials thought had been rectified brought some prospective jurors to City Hall on a day when the building is closed.

About 1,300 notices were mailed out summoning prospective jurors to City Hall on Good Friday, a holiday for city offices and the courts.  After the mistake was discovered,  First Judicial District spokesman Marty O’Rourke said, correction notices were sent out.

“There was a mistake,” he said. “But a month ago, a correction notice was sent out to people notifying them that the original notice was wrong and to basically tell them their assignment date was April 15.”

Unfortunately the handful of people who showed up at City Hall Friday will still have to report on April 15, O’Rourke said.

“if they need to reschedule that, they can call the jury commission phone number at 215-683-7170 and reschedule,” he said.

That applies to everyone originally sent the March 25 summons, O’Rourke said.
