Judge to make evidence decision in case of alleged Souderton killer

Following arguments today, a judge must decide if items seized from James Lee Troutman’s jail cell can be used as evidence in the rape and murder case against him.

Troutman, in jail for the alleged rape and murder of 9-year-old Skyler Kauffman, had his cell searched by prosecutors on Halloween, and Troutman’s lawyers want to block prosecutors from using potentially confidential notes as evidence in the case.

The Pottstown Mercury reports the lawyers are at odds over whether the cell should have been searched and what items, if any, can be used as evidence.
