Judge rejects parents’ petition to transfer students out of Camden schools

A judge has ruled that the sons of Sandra Vargas, Maria Roldan and Gricelda Ruiz will remain in their Camden schools despite the mothers’ argument that their children are being denied a proper education.

The women filed a class action petition to have their sons transferred to different schools on the grounds that staying in the district would expose the students to irreperable harm. The Star-Ledger reports administrative law Judge Edward Delanoy couldn’t be sold on the argument.

Attorneys for the parents will seek the opinion of N.J. Education Secretary Chris Cerf, who can change, accept or reject the judge’s decision.
