Judge approves surgery for injured Delaware County wrestler

Common Pleas Judge Mary Alice Brennan signed an order this morning giving the OK to doctors at Jefferson University Hospital to operate on injured Delaware County teen Mazzerati Mitchell. Mitchell has been in county custody since Monday after his parents refused his surgery.

Though a lawyer for the Mitchells said he planned to file an emergency petition to stop the surgery, no such petition has been filed yet, the Delaware County Times reports.

Mitchell sustained back injuries during an Upper Chichester High School wrestling match last week that left him unable to feel or move parts of his body. His parents are fighting the surgery, as they believe in non-invasive, natural treatments

We have to wonder: has anyone asked the kid how he feels about all this?
