Jazz pianist and composer Matt Mitchell doesn’t miss his day job

Thirty-six year old jazz pianist and composer Matt Mitchell has been nationally recognized as a keyboardist to watch out for and expect more from in the future. Mitchell grew up in Exton and lives in Philadelphia.

Two years ago, he quit his day-job working in the library of The University of the Arts to pursue his musical career full-time. The decision is paying off, and he’s constantly booked, mainly playing gigs in New York City and abroad.

NewsWorks Tonight host Dave Heller talks with Mitchell about composing his own work, playing with a number of bands and getting his name on records.
