Iranian court sets bail of $500,000 for American hikers

After more than two years since their arrest in Iran, two American hikers will be released on $500,000 bail from an Iranian prison, according to their defense attorney.

Fox 29 reports the process to release Shane Bauer and Elkins Park native Josh Fattal would begin after the payment of their bail, which must be arranged through third parties because of U.S. economic sanctions on Iran.

The two were convicted on spy-related charges last month after being arrested in July of 2009.

Sarah Shourd, the third hiker in the group, was released last year on a similar arrangement.
