Investigation underway in ‘suspicious’ Mt. Airy fire

Clean-up was underway on Monday after a weekend fire in Mt. Airy officials are calling “suspcious.”

According to Chief Peter Crespo, spokesperson for the Philadelphia Fire Department, an investigation into exactly what caused the fire is ongoing.

“Preliminary reports by the fire marshal indicates that there was a strong odor of gasoline and plus that there were two separate fires — one on first floor and one on the third floor — that kind of indicates that it’s suspicious in nature,” Deputy Fire Chief Eric Fleming told NBC10.
