Inaugural cook-off benefits ‘seed to table’ initiative at Mt. Airy preschool

The Big Backyard Nursery School in East Mt. Airy held its first-ever mac & cheese cook-off on Saturday. The cook-off proceeds benefit the school’s ‘Seed to Table” initiative to teach preschoolers about gardening, harvesting and nutritious eating.

Chefs from local restaurants competed to be named “The Big Cheese” by Big Backyard Nursery School students. Participants included the Trolley Car Diner, Charles Roman Catering/Mica, Lemon Hill, Farmacy RX, Brittingham’s, South Philly Tap Room, Iron Hill Brewery, Big Backyard Seed to Table coordinator Mimi Burkhard-Vetrano and more.
