In Elkins Park, eagerly waiting for hikers’ return from Iran

Some Elkins Park residents are waiting for news from Iran.  A community resident, Josh Fattal, is one of two American hikers released today after more than two years of detention abroad.

A lawyer for the two Americans jailed as spies in Iran says the two were to be released on Wednesday after the court approved a $1 million bail-for-freedom deal.

At 10:50 a.m., the Associated Press reported the two hikers were taken to an airport in Tehran and were flown out of the country.

Fattal and two friends have maintained they were innocencently hiking in northern Iraq when they may have accidentally strayed over the unmarked border with Iran.
