How fast were those vehicles going? [video]

On Wednesday, NewsWorks shared video of 11 vehicles on which we had trained a radar gun during our look at speeding in Northwest Philadelphia and beyond.

Having asked readers to guess those speeds from Lancaster Avenue and Kelly and Lincoln Drives, we share the results today.

Point of interest: Vehicles may be going a different speed than they appear to be going close up.

1) Black SUV: 51 miles per hour (in a 40 zone)

As for which reader came closest to guessing those speeds, Travis Gold pinpointed three on the exact reading, was within one mph in three other instances and was within 3 mph of two other cars’ speeds.

Gold will be picking a location for our next radar report.

Coming next: the full report from NewsWorks’ radar effort in May that saw 1,150 vehicles clocked in 28 locations.
