Honkala, Antipuna say they’re ready to get on the Philadelphia ballot

Two independent candidates for Philadelphia offices say they’re ready to file this week to get themselves on the ballot.

Cheri Honkala is running for sheriff, and Richie Antipuna is gunning for city commissioner. Both are Kensington residents known in the community for their outspoken approach to different things.

Honkala’s candidacy platform is about ending sheriff sales — something she focused on before her days as a candidate. Antipuna hosts a cable and Internet TV show dedicated to all things Kensington.

Heard in the Hall reports both plan to stop by City Hall Friday with their signatures — they each need at least 1,845. Look for more information about their candidacies later today on NewsWorks.
