Historical Commission debates demolition for University City properties

The University of Pennsylvania and the Episcopal Cathedral both requested demolition permission at a recent Historical Commission Meeting.

According to PlanPhilly‘s coverage of the eight-hour session, The University of Pennsylvania’s request was granted allowing the demolition of a historic, but “badly altered” property at 40th and Pine to proceed.

However, the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral’s request was put on hold, halting its plans for a 25-story residential tower at 38th and Chestnut.
