Herman Cain suspends campaign
Republican candidate Herman Cain announced today he is suspending his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.
Cain, in a speech from Atlanta, Georgia, said he was suspending his campaign to avoid news coverage that he said was hurtful to his family.
The Associated Press says the announcement comes just five days after an Atlanta-area woman claimed she had an affair with Cain for more than a decade.
Cain, the former president of the National Restaurant Association, surged in the polls in October, but recently lost support after being accused of sexual harassment by two women. The accusations came during his time with the National Restaurant Association.
