Periods of heavy rain through the evening hours; beautiful weekend ahead

A cold front will crawl across the Garden State through the remainder of Friday, followed by clearing conditions overnight, forecasters say.

Periods of heavy rain with possible embedded thunderstorms are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

“A general one to two inches of rainfall is expected, with locally higher amounts likely in any thunderstorms. Flash flooding is possible along small rivers and streams and also in urban areas, especially if these rainfall amounts are met or exceeded in a six hour period or less,” a Flash Flood Watch issued by the service for interior counties in New Jersey advises.

But all clears by Saturday morning.
