A Philadelphia City Councilman wants to hold hearings on the impending establishment of a medical marijuana program in Pennsylvania.

Councilman Derek Green said he wants the city to be ready for medical marijuana when dispensaries begin opening.

“The purpose of having a resolution because the legislation was recently passed in Harrisburg is to give us an opportunity to have a conversation on the impact of that legislation in Philadelphia,” said Green, “It also provides us an opportunity to reach out to other jurisdictions — Washington, D.C., New Jersey — to see the impact of medical marijuana in their jurisdictions.”

Green would like to call in experts for their advices on handling zoning issues and anything else concerned with the implementation of state medical marijuana regulations.
