Green light: Hard Rock expected to set up shop in Atlantic City

A casino carrying the “Hard Rock” name is expected to set up shop in Atlantic City, after casino regulators gave their approval for the project on the Atlantic City boardwalk.

KYW Newsradio reports Hard Rock executives looked at several existing properties, but decided the company would be better off with a new property.

KYW Newsradio says the Casino Control Commission approved the bid to build a $465 million facility with 208 hotel rooms to start, with plans to increase to 850 over time. The new property is expected to be up and running in 2014, with a ground breaking possibly before mid-July.

According to the report, the new property is expected to employ 1,400 people.
