Grants awarded to 3 local organizations from farmers market promotion program

Three Philadelphia based organizations are the recipients of grants ranging from $40,000 to $90,000 from a federal farmers market promotion program.

CBS 3 reports the programs, the Greensgrow Philadelphia Project, Share Food Program and People for People Incorporated, all received the federal money from the US Department of Agriculture’s Farmers Market Promotion Program.

News of the grants came from Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey.

The grants will help to improve food transportation to different markets, including needy neighborhoods.
