Gas odor leads to evacuation in North Philadelphia

For the third time in a week (and the second today), the smell of gas has resulted in an evacuation in Philadelphia. During lunchtime today, the strong odor sent North Philadelphia residents from their homes on the 3300-block of North Park Avenue.

The Inquirer reports PGW has determined the odor stems from an underground ventilation system, which is now being repaired. The Salvation Army is assisting those who had to leave their homes.
