President Obama to attend funeral for Biden's mother
Jean Biden, mother of the Vice-President, will be laid to rest Tuesday following funeral services at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
President and Mrs. Obama will be in Delaware Tuesday to attend funeral services for Vice President Joe Biden’s mother. The service will be held at 11 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. 92-year-old Jean Biden died Friday at the family’s home in Wilmington. A wake will be held at the church Monday night from 4 to 8 PM.
In a statement, Biden says his mother was the center of the family and taught all her children that “family is to be treasured, loyalty is paramount and faith will guide you through tough times.” Mrs. Biden was born in Scranton in 1917. She married Joseph Robinette Biden in 1941. They were married for 61 years until his death in 2002.
The family has requested that, instead of flowers, donations in Mrs. Biden’s memory be made to the Ministry of Caring in Wilmington, or the Naomi Christina Biden Minority Scholarship Fund at Archmere Academy in Claymont.
