Funeral arrangements announced for Delaware Governor Sherman Tribbitt

    Delaware’s Governor will be honored in his adopted hometown Friday and Saturday.

    The late Delaware Governor Sherman Tribbitt will be honored with funeral services Friday and Saturday at the Odessa Fire House.

    The official obituary notice from the Daniels and Hutchinson funeral home says services will be held at 10am Saturday August 21st at the Odessa Volunteer Fire Company at 304 Main Street.   Friends and family may also visit there Friday evening between 6-9pm.  A Masonic service will begin at 7pm.  Mr. Tribbitt was a Mason of the 33rd degree.

    He is survived by his wife Jeanne of Odessa.  They met on a blind date and were married in 1943.  After serving time in the Navy during World War II, he started a hardware business with his father-in-law.   Mr. Tribbitt is also survived by 2 sons and a daughter along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Delaware Valley chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  The address is 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.  Mr. Tribbitt was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and spent his last years at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
