The LBI Shuttle, which debuted last summer, returns beginning Memorial Day weekend, officials announced.

The free shuttle system runs along most of the entire 18-mile stretch of Long Beach Boulevard, the main thoroughfare on Long Beach Island, from Barnegat Light to Holgate.

Shuttles deviate from Long Beach Boulevard in a portion of Barnegat Light, Ship Bottom, and Beach Haven.

The handicapped accessible system, which picks up passengers after being flagged down on a corner, is operational seven days a week generally from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. until Oct. 4, with service extended to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Riders are encouraged to track the shuttles as they proceed throughout Long Beach Island.

Ted Mitchell of Coastal Sign & Design in nearby West Creek installed eight full vehicle wraps for the system, which includes advertisements for numerous local sponsors. He also designed graphics for multiple shuttles.
