Fox questions 2nd District Council candidate about whether he lives in the district

Pa. Rep. Kenyatta Johnson is running for Philadelphia City Council. He’s up against the “incorruptible” Ivan Cohen for the 2nd District seat, currently held by outgoing Council President Anna Verna.

The two will face off in the polls Tuesday, but Johnson’s got some other challengers right now. Fox29 isn’t so sure Johnson lives at the South Philly address he says he does. Reporter Jeff Cole did a little digging and found the Rep. spending a lot of time in West Philly — in the 3rd Councilmanic District.

Johnson says yes, he spends a lot of time there visiting his fiancee, but does live in the 2nd District. When Cole presented him with a water bill from the South Philly address that showed no charges over six months, Johnson said he’s just a conservative utility user. His PECO and PGW bills are also below average.

With the election only days away and Johnson insisting he’s doing all the right things, does the investigation have legs?
