Four-year labor deal reached for state liquor store workers

Pennsylvania liquor store workers have agreed on a new four-year contract with the state.

State Secretary of Administration Kelly Powell Logan says the new deal will save the state more than $28 million with a one-year wage freeze and reductions in sick leave time. The agreement also includes changes to health care plan contributions. Workers will also see a four-percent increase in their base pay over the four years.

The contract with the United Food and Commercial Workers union covers roughly 2,800 liquor store clerks. The state says the deal also does not block the state from privatizing the state store system.
