Forum on Germantown High’s Future April 19
On Friday, April 19, 4-5 p.m., AxisPhilly and NBC 10 will present “What’s Next? A Forum on the Future of Germantown High.” We’re bringing together neighbors, leaders, developers and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for the future use of the building that houses Germantown High School. This iconic building, one of the oldest high schools in America, is one of 22 schools slated to close at the end of the 2013 school year. Forum participants will engage a panel of community leaders and influencers in a discussion centered on innovative ideas for the future of Germantown High School, moderated by Solomon Jones of AxisPhilly and filmed by NBC 10. The forum will be held at First United Methodist Church of Germantown, Pilling Hall, 6001 Germantown Avenue. Invited panelists include: Cindy Bass, Councilwoman, 8th Councilmanic District; Stephen Kinsey, State Rep., 201st Legislative District (or a representative); Betty Turner, Germantown Community Connection; Emily Dowdall, The Pew Charitable Trusts; Bill Ewing, First United Methodist Church of Germantown; Allan Domb, Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors; and more community leaders to be announced. This forum is affiliated with SchoolhouseWatch, an online community delivering comprehensive information and providing a place for neighbors to have a voice in determining the future of each closing school building.
