Former police inspector to be sentenced Tuesday

Tuesday is sentencing day for former Philadelphia Police Inspector Dan Castro. He pleaded guilty in June to a single count of extortion after being convicted of one count of lying to the FBI. Other charges against him were dropped as part of his plea.

Castro returns to court tomorrow where, the Inquirer reports, his lawyer will use more than two dozens letters of support in the hopes of a light sentence. Prosecutors, meanwhile, want a stiff sentence.

The 48-year-old faces time in federal prison.
