Former Pa. Gov. Leader’s funeral set for Thursday

Funeral services for former Pennsylvania Gov. George Leader are set for next week.

The Country Meadows retirement home in Hershey, part of a chain that Leader and his wife founded, said Friday that a viewing will be held at the Hoover Funeral Home in Hershey on Wednesday.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey. Burial will at a later date.

Leader, a Democrat who served a four-term term as governor in the 1950s, fought for reforms in government and public education. After leaving office, he had a successful business career but also kept his hand in politics.
