Video: Fire rips through Point Boro lagoon house
An early morning fire destroyed a house on a Point Pleasant Borough lagoon.
The fire sparked in the Anchor Court house around 4:45 a.m. today, according to Jerry Meaney of the Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad.
The occupants escaped the house without injury, he said.
JSHN contributor Katie Preissler Crain said she called 911 to report the blaze.
“My neighbor’s house,” she said. “Everyone ok. No pets. Heartbreaking to watch”
Firefighters fought the blaze from the land and water, utilizing at least one fire boat and drafting from a lagoon to assist fire suppression efforts, according to emergency radio transmissions.
Fire crews from Point Pleasant Borough, Point Pleasant Beach, and Brick Township responded along with Point Pleasant Borough First Aid. Brielle and Bay Head fire departments provided standby coverage.
The cause remains under investigation.
