Federal emergency grant meant to help workers from Delaware County refineries

A National Emergency Grant from the federal government is mean to help workers from Delaware County’s Marcus Hook and Trainer refineries.

The $5 million grant to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry will provide re-employment services to about 1,000 of the refineries’ workers, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The money will be used to help employees from the Sunoco and ConocoPhillips refineries, as well as those who worked as contractors at the two sites. Sunoco announced late last year it would close its refineries if no buyers could be found.
