Farnese legislation demands five-year minimum sentence for multiple straw purchases

Pa. Sen. Larry Farnese has announced legislation to reinstate mandatory minimum sentences for straw purchases of multiple firearms.

Farnese wants the language of the current bill changed to include multiple purchases made at one time.

“The new language would require that a person who at the time of sentencing has been convicted of another offense under [section 6111] shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years,” a release from Farnese’s office reads. “For purposes of this subsection, a person shall be deemed to have been convicted of an offense under this section whether or not judgment of sentence has been imposed for that violation.”
