Eighth District Councilwoman Bass launches re-election campaign

Eighth Distict Councilwoman Cindy Bass announced her plans to run for re-election on Friday.

She is running for her second term in the position.

Bass discussed her anti-loitering and camera initiatives, focusing on playgrounds.

“We want people to know that if you are coming for foolishness, we aren’t having it.” she said. “We got you on camera.”

She also talked about her plans to install adult fitness equipment and special playground equipment for children with developmental disabilities at each playground and recreation centers in her district.

Plans for such updates are already in motion at Germantown’s Vernon Park.

Bass discussed joint plans with state Rep. Stephen Kinsey to hold community-leader training programs to encourage more local residents to get involved in neighborhood issues.

“We have to be a part of the game,” she said. “We have to make it happen.”
