Eighth Council District residents discuss future leadership during forum

What do residents of Philadelphia’s 8th Council District want?

Some want unity. Others are asking for equality of the district’s diverse neighborhoods. Everyone wants to see something.

Just one thing is all Sheila Slater of Germantown asked for at last night’s public forum for the district. Co-sponsored by NewsWorks, the Committee of Seventy, G-Town Radio, the Germantown Community Connection and the League of Women Voters, and moderated by the Penn Project for Civic Engagement, the forum was the first of three calling on residents to talk about what they want from their next council leader.

Slater is asking that her next councilperson “just accomplish something.”

There are two more forums coming up March 28 and April 5 before the April 27 candidate debate.
