Egg Harbor Township holds unique fishing event

It wasn’t a tournament of experienced fishers, necessarily, but on Friday a unique fishing event did include some passionate fans of the sport.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the EHT Recreation Department’s Special Tournament of Fishing provided a day of fun for children with developmental disorders and their families.

Organizers say the event, which the department has held for 20 years, gives children new experiences, and more importantly, a day all to themselves.

Typically, the fishing event averages 20 children each year, but according to the Press of Atlantic City, attendance has dropped, with just eight kids taking part in this year’s event.

Despite the low turnout, organizers feel it’s still important to keep the fishing tournament going.
