East Falls rock climbing gym shoots for March opening

Remember those resolutions you made earlier this month to get fit, try new things and take more risks? Well, you’ll soon have an opportunity to tackle all three at the new rock climbing gym in East Falls.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms, which consists of two other locations in Oaks and Valley Township, has started construction on a 15,000 square foot building at 3500 Scotts Lane.

It’s scheduled to open in early March.

The facility, which will be open seven days a week, will feature a variety of climbing options for kids and adults of all skill levels. Offerings include top-rope climbing, bouldering, lead climbing and plenty of space for birthday parties for the kids and corporate team building events for adults.

Memberships range between $55 and $60 per month. Members who sign up before the grand opening in March get a discounted rate. Those who are interested in trying the gym out for a day can pay $18 for a day pass and $7 for equipment. A variety of “Quick Climb” packages will also be available.

According to Lauren Caporizo, Director of Sales for Philadelphia Rock Gyms, the East Falls facility has already received booking requests for up to 10 birthday parties.

“We love to bring climbing to people’s lives because it’s healthy and fun, which is a hard combination to find, usually,” said Caporizo. “We’ve received such a warm, welcoming response and we can’t wait to see what it brings.”

Caporizo added that they are currently in the process of hiring staff for the East Falls facility. If you’re interested in applying, go to philarockgym.com
