Drug Enforcement Agency hosts prescription drug disposal event

    Today is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and more than 5,300 sites across the country have joined the effort to collect and dispose of your old prescription drugs.

    The DEA has a list of participating sites where you can take your prescriptions to help prevent abuse and theft. Drop-off times are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    The Philadelphia Police Deparment has also listed its drop-off sites online:

    Oregon Avenue Shoprite – 24th Street & Oregon Avenue
    Roxborough Shoprite – 6901 Ridge Avenue
    Shoprite of Island Avenue – 2946 Island Avenue
    Jehovah Jireh Baptist Church – 4807 Haverford Avenue
    Bryant Baptist Church – 1140 S 19th Street
    Sayre Health Center (rear of building) – 5800 Walnut Street
    Shoprite of Parkside – 1575 N 52nd Street
    Haverford Avenue Shoprite – 610 Haverford Avenue
    Port Richmond Pharmacy – 2512 E Clearfield Street
    Holy Name of Jesus Church / Hall – 701 Gaul Street
