Downed wire causes power outage in portions of Ocean County Saturday morning

    A downed wire caused a power outage in portions of Ocean County Saturday morning.

    About 4,000 customers were without power in Barnegat, Berkeley, Lacey, and Ocean at 10:45 a.m., according to Peter Johner, a JCP&L spokesman.

    At its peak shortly after 10:00 a.m., the outage impacted over 14,000 customers, according to the utility. 

    Johner said that crews are currently undertaking repairs.

    “They are isolating the area impacted by the downed wire, then switching over to other circuits to restore power. Once finished, they’ll make permanent repairs,” he said. 

    JCP&L is reporting an estimated restoration time of 12:30 p.m. today for the remainder of the customers still without power.
