Dolphin deaths

A dolphin that washed ashore in Sea Isle City yesterday is the third of its kind in recent weeks at the Jersey Shore.

The short-beaked mammal died in transport after it was discovered on the beach, and like the other dolphins, is part of species that typically lives far offshore, the Press of Atlantic City reports.

As the dolphins migrate south for the winter, the weaker ones make their way to the beach. A necropsy will be conducted to determine the dolphin’s cause of death.
