It’s Memorial Day weekend and the annual pilgrimage down the Expressway to a summer destination has begun.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a rescue package to allow Atlantic City 150 days to get the city budget together. Though, that didn’t seem to affect the feeling of summer in the city.
For those who flock to Atlantic City things are still the same. It’s, “Summertime and the living is easy.”
The weather cooperated Saturday with clear blue skies and temperatures in the 80’s. The ocean air was fresh, the sound of waves crashing onto the shore was calming, and the seagulls screamed and argued while scrambling for bits of food.
Children carrying shovels and pales made their way to the beach, where crowds put up umbrellas and laid blankets on the sand.
Morning bike riders peddled their way up and down the boardwalk as the beach patrol readied the beach for a safe season.
