Delaware’s hunger pains

    Delaware is on par with Mississippi and Alabama when it comes to the number of residents struggling to afford food.  That’s the result of a Gallup study into hunger in America.  State social service leaders call the numbers disturbing.  In this week’s First Look, WHYY’s Mark Eichmann examines the numbers and visits a Newark family who struggle to put food on the table every week.

    You can help hungry Delawareans  by donating to the Food Bank of Delaware.  They accept food donations at their Milford and Newark locations from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.  Find other drop-off sites statewide.
