Delaware unemployment rate up a tick in July

Delaware’s unemployment rate is up one-tenth of a percent to 8.1% for the month of July.  

Numbers from the Department of Labor show there were 34,500 Delawareans unemployed last month.  Nationally, the unemployment rate dropped a tenth of a percent in July, to 9.1%.

Over the past year, the biggest job losses were in trade, transportation and utilities, which lost 1,200 jobs, and professional and business services, which also dropped 1,200 jobs.

Biggest gains in the past year have been in leisure and hospitality, which added 2,600 workers to the payrolls.
